Analysis
The boys long jump seems to have the top three spots secured. Junior Pierce Thomas of Brownsburg is looking to be the person to beat after finishing first in the state last season with a jump of 23-11.50. As a freshman, Thomas placed third in the state for long jump at 23-02. Yet, he started sophomore indoor season off by being ranked first in the state with a 23-7.5 jump. He does have some major competition.
Tayson Parker had the longest jump in the state last season at 24-2.5. That's a jump very close to the state meet record at 24-7.75. The senior from West Central was right on the heels of Thomas finishing second at the state finals with a jump of 23-10.00. Being a senior season, this could mean Parker is ready to take the state title, and possibly a state record.
Not too far behind Parker is senior Kyle Stewart of Evansville Central. He finished third in the outdoor state finals with a jump of 23-6.25. His PR during outdoor last season was 23-7.25 which gave him first place at the Evansville Central Regionals. Both Stewart and Parker may be out to take the title from Thomas this season as this is their last high school season. Other returners that can't be counted out include Quinton Mctoy of Highland High School who finished his season at state with a jump of 22-8.75. He may not have one of the highest PRs, but he managed to place fourth in the biggest meet of the season.
Armani Glass and Ryne Norby both have PR jumps over 23. The 2020 men's long jump season could be an interesting one!
