Analysis
Indiana boys high jump will be feeling multiple losses this year due to many graduating 2019 seniors. Kamyren Garrett is already starting to look like he is ready to take home the blue medal. The junior placed 4th last year at the state finals with a jump 6-8 but had a PR of 6-10. However, in the 2020 indoor season, the Lawrence Central student has already cleared 7-0.5. At this rate, the junior could be up to getting the state record which is currently 7-4.
Senior Garrett Voegerl will be trying to fight for that number one spot. The Southridge jumper finished fifth behind Garrett at the state finals clearing 6-8 which is his PR. Deandre Alsup also has a PR of 6-8 and could be ready to make his place in the state finals.
Junior Marcos Barbosa of Brownsburg was one spot away from earning points at the state finals. He finished 10th clearing a height of 6-6. He cleared his PR at the 2019 Avon Sectionals at 6-7. Other returners who are right there include Gage Ernsberger and CJ Collins. Ernsberger placed 16th at the state finals last season.
For now, Garrett seems to have locked in first place, but strange things happen during track season.
