On June 21st, the IHSAA Executive Committee met to discuss and alter the sectional landscapes of all sports across the state of Indiana. For cross country, there were many teams moved to a different sectional location for the upcoming season's postseason tournament. Fishers and Hamilton Southeastern stand out as they not only move out of their sectional, but get moved into the New Haven Semi-State as well. Previously, both schools were a part of the Noblesville Sectional and Regional before having the opportunity to qualify for Semi-State at the Blue River Cross County Course in Shelbyville. Now the road to state would consist of trips to Pendleton and Delta before making an appearance at The Plex for the New Haven Semi-State. For some seniors, this may be the third course that they've ran a Semi-State meet as Carmel previously hosted the Shelbyville Semi-State back in the 2015-2016 season.
Before Fishers was founded in 2006, Hamilton Southeastern was previously a member of the Pendleton Sectional. In the 2007 realignment, both Fishers and Hamilton Southeastern were moved to the Noblesville Sectional. Based off of returning 5k times from last season, Fishers boys are ranked #2 while Hamilton Southeastern boys sit at #22. For girls, HSE is ranked #1 and the Fishers girls are at #4.
