We expected fast times at the Ben Davis Invite, but Emma Wilson's 17:37, Indiana #2 this season, was not expected. Well she was predicted to drop a new PR and a fast one, but her time being unattested by any other competitor was a little bit of a surprise on such a fast course. Wilson ran from start to finish solo, gapping Abby Lynch and Abi Little with every stride.
Wilson has big goals this season, wanting to keep 1st place
as hers all the way through the state meet. She is has a good chance at that
but has tough competition with Schwartz, Duffus and Bates currently. Her win
came by over 30 seconds too, with Lynch in 2nd in 18:09 and Little
in 18:19. Kayla Mcculloch in 4th in 18:35. It seems this modified course
for 2017 is causing times to slow down a little bit.
Noblesville used their strong pack method to take first place with 61 points and the scoring 5 all in the top 20. Brownsburg took 2nd with 73pts and Fishers 3rd with 119 pts.
Just before this Michael Crook of Southport won the boys race in a PR of 15:45. Just like Wilson he ran solo the entire time. He didn't get as big of a gap on the rest of the field, but a big enough one to give him the win by 6 seconds to Ethan Goddard of Avon. Isaiah Robyne of West Lafayette took 3rd in 15:55.
Avon took home 1st for the 7th consecutive year with 62pts. North Central in 2nd with 73pts, without Ian Hunter racing. West Lafayette in 3rd with 112pts.
Race videos and interviews being uploaded all through Sunday.
A good amount of these schools will be at the Flashrock Invite, now called the Riverview Health Invite, next weekend. Be on the lookout for tons of coverage from there and other meets starting next Wednesday.
