New Balance Nationals Outdoor Performance Spotlight - Ohio Throwers

           McComb's Molly Leppelmeier took three top 3 placements in the throwing events. 


The depth of throwing talent in Ohio was on full display at the recent New Balance Nationals Outdoor in Greensboro, North Carolina, as several athletes from the state posted impressive results in their respective events. 


Boys:

Discus -

Sam Meece - Napoleon High School - 9th place - 183-08 

* Ranked 1st in Ohio and 14th in the country from a previous result this season (200-11) 


Hammer -

Jacob Wickey - Medina High School - 2nd place - 213-0 / Ohio #2 / U.S. #8


Nick Lane - Bowling Green High School - 5th place - 207-7 

* Ranked 1st in Ohio and 6th in the country from a previous result this season (219-5) 


Sam Meece - Napoleon High School - 6th place - 204-4

* Ranked 3rd in Ohio and 11th in the country from a previous result this season (205-11)


Brent Fairbanks - Austintown Fitch High School - 7th place - 199-6 / Ohio #4 / U.S. #16 


           Sam Meece picked up a pair of top 10 placements at New Balance Nationals Outdoor.


          Medina's Jacob Wickey will compete for Kent State University next year. 


          Bowling Green's Nick Lane will compete for the Indiana Hoosiers next year. 


          Austintown Fitch's Brent Fairbanks finished 7th in the Hammer event with his throw of 199-6.

Discus -

Madison Pollard - Anthony Wayne High School - 2nd place - 161-4

* Ranked 3rd in Ohio and 17th in the country from a previous result this season (163-2) 

 

Molly Leppelmeier - McComb High School - 3rd place - 159-1

* Ranked 1st in Ohio and 5th in the country from a previous result this season (171-5) 

 

Lauren Jones - Garfield High School - 6th place - 155-1

* Ranked 4th in Ohio and 18th in the country from a previous result this season (159-9) 


Hammer -

Molly Leppelmeier - McComb High School - 3rd place - 177-06

* This result ties Molly Leppelmeier's P.R. from earlier in the 2017 outdoor season.  Leppelmeier is ranked 1st in Ohio and 7th in the country in the Hammer event.  


Madison Pollard - Anthony Wayne High School - 5th place - 170-03 / Ohio #3 / U.S. #16 


Shot Put -

Molly Leppelmeier - McComb High School - 3rd place - 49-07.25

* Ranked 1st in Ohio and 4th in the country from a previous result this season (50-10.25) 


Madison Pollard - Anthony Wayne High School - 4th place - 48-02.75

* Ranked in a tie for 2nd in Ohio and in a tie for 11th in the country from a previous result this season (48-11.5)

 

Abby Moore - Rootstown High School - 5th place - 48-01.75

* Ranked in a tie for 2nd in Ohio and in a tie for 11th in the country from a previous result this season (48-11.5) 

 

Nicole Berry - Franklin Monroe High School - 6th place - 47-10.50 / Ohio #5 / U.S. #16 


           Madison Pollard claimed three top 5 placements at New Balance Nationals Outdoor


           McComb's Molly Leppelmeier will compete for Purdue University next year. 


           Garfield's Lauren Jones took 6th place in the Discus event with her throw of 155-1. 


           Rootstown's Abby Moore finished 5th in the Shot Put event with her throw of 48-01.75. 


           Franklin Monroe's Nicole Berry will compete for Tiffin University next year.
