MAUREEN EGAN - St. Henry
Maureen Egan began running varsity for the high school team when she was a 7th grader. She was coached in high school by KTCCCA Hall of Famer Tony Harden. Under his guidance she was named to All-Region and All-State that first year and every year thereafter. She was a member of 3 State Championship Cross Country teams, 3 State Runner-Up Cross Country teams and 1 State Champion Track and Field Team. When she entered high school she was the dominant runner in Northern Kentucky and in the KHSAA State Cross Country Meet she finished as the Individual Champion her Sophomore year and as the Individual State Runner Up each of her other three years in high school.
A sparkling as she was in cross-country it was in track and field where Maureen re-wrote the record books. Look at some of her accomplishments . . .
14 State Championships, 6 Indoor State Championships along with the 1 in cross-country
State Champion in the 800 Meters 5 straight years and in 1993 she set a Class A record of 2:14.50 that still stands after 21 years.
State Champion in the 1600 Meters 3 straight years and in 1993 she set a Class A record of 5:02.25 that like the 800 has held up for over 20 years.
She ran the anchor leg on 3 state champion 3200 Meter Relays.
The first Kentucky Class A Female to break the 5 Minute barrier.

National Honor Society and Academic All-State for 6 consecutive years.
After her outstanding high school career she joined KTCCCA Hall of Fame Coach Don Weber and became a Wildcat at the University of Kentucky. She was a 4 Year Captain of the UK Cross Country and Track and Field Team and became one of the top middle distance runners in the SEC.
It was in the classroom where she really shined as she was Academic All-SEC in her Junior and Senior Year. Her Senior she represented UK and an Academic All-America.
Post Graduate studies at several universities with studies in the Medical Field of Nursing. She is currently at the Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio as the Chest Pain and Heart Failure Coordinator and one of their top researchers. Now entering her third hall of fame.
