Men's runners ranked 7th in preseason poll

Complete Poll (pdf.)

EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana men's cross country team is ranked seventh, nationally, in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association Preseason Top 25 poll.

USI, which finished 10th at the 2010 NCAA Division II National Championships last December, was one of three Great Lakes Valley Conference teams to be ranked in the top 25 as Bellarmine University and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside were ranked 16th and 25th, respectively.

The Screaming Eagles return seven of their top eight runners from the 2010 campaign, including two-time All-Americans Dustin Emerick and Brendan Devine. Emerick and Devine were 28th and 31st, respectively, at the NCAA II National Championships last season and are seeking to become the first three-time All-Americans in the USI men's cross country program's history.

USI begins the season September 2 at the Covered Bridge Open in Boone, North Carolina.
