Emerick garners second GLVC weekly award

EVANSVILLE, Ind.—University of Southern Indiana junior Dustin Emerick was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week for the second time this season following his performance at the GVSU Big Meet in Allendale, Michigan this past weekend.

Emerick finished fifth in the 5,000 meters on Friday night with an NCAA II provisional qualifying time of 14 minutes, 23.61 seconds. He is currently ranked first in the GLVC and 12th in the nation in the 5,000 meters.

This marks the fifth time in Emerick's career that he has earned GLVC Track Athlete of the Week honors and the second for indoor track. Earlier this season, Emerick earned the weekly honor after finishing fifth in the 5,000 meters at the Indiana University Relays.

A history major and graduate of Elmwood High School, Emerick is a two-time All-American in cross country.

The Eagles return to action February 25-26 when they compete at the GLVC Indoor Championships in Somers, Wisconsin.
