Emerick garners GLVC honor

EVANSVILLE, Ind.—University of Southern Indiana junior distance runner Dustin Emerick has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week after leading the Screaming Eagles at the Indiana University Relays this past weekend.

Emerick was fifth in the 5,000-Meter Invitational with an NCAA II provisional qualifying time of 14 minutes, 28.66 seconds. Emerick's time ranks fourth on the current NCAA II performance list and fourth all-time at USI.

This marks the fourth time in Emerick's career that he has earned GLVC Track Athlete of the Week honors and the first time for indoor track. A history major and a graduate of Elmwood High School, Emerick is a two-time All-American in cross country.

The Eagles return to action Saturday when they compete at the Hoosier Invitational in Bloomington, Indiana, though Emerick will not compete until the Grand Valley State University Big Meet February 11-12 in Allendale, Michigan.
