LOUISVILLE, Ky.—The No. 15 University of Southern Indiana men's cross country team punched its ticket to the NCAA II National Championships by finishing second out of 21 teams Saturday at the NCAA II Midwest Region Championships at the E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park.

USI will make its sixth straight trip to the national meet, which is December 4 in Louisville, Kentucky. The Screaming Eagles had two of the top 10 runners and four in the top 21 as they finished with 81 points, 60 back of first-place Grand Valley State University.

Junior All-Americans Dustin Emerick and Brendan Devine finished fifth and seventh, respectively, while junior Bryan Suarez and sophomore Michael Callison were 17th and 21st, respectively. Senior Andrew Dixon rounded out the Eagles' top-five runners with a 32nd-place finish.

Emerick completed the 10k course in 31 minutes, 13.45 seconds, less than 15 ticks off the winning pace set by Grand Valley States' Tyler Emmorey. Devine crossed the finish line in 31 minutes, 19.98 seconds.

Both Emerick and Devine garnered All-Region honors with their finishes. It is the second straight year that Emerick has earned All-Region honors and the third straight year Devine has garnered All-Region accolades. Devine also is the fourth men's runner in school history to earn three All-Region awards and the third to do it in consecutive seasons.

In addition to USI, the Great Lakes Valley Conference had three teams earn trips to the NCAA II National Championships. Bellarmine University and Drury University each had 126 points to tie for third and earn the remaining two spots from the Midwest Region.

The NCAA II National Championships will be part of the NCAA Division II Fall Sports Festival in Louisville, Kentucky.
