ALLENDALE, Mich.—Senior All-American Mary Ballinger recorded an NCAA II provisional qualifying mark in the 5,000 meters Friday night to lead the University of Southern Indiana women's track and field team at the Grand Valley State University Big Meet this weekend.

Ballinger finished seventh in the invitational with a time of 17 minutes, 2.56 seconds. She also helped USI's distance medley relay team to a seventh-place finish with a time of 12 minutes, 23.42 seconds.

Sophomores Jackie Henderson and Adrienne Curtis also were close to provisional marks in the 5,000 meters. Henderson was less than 17 seconds off the mark as she finished with a time of 18 minutes, 4.16 seconds, while Curtis crossed the finish line in 18 minutes, 9.81 seconds.

The Screaming Eagles return to action Friday night when they travel to Charleston, Illinois, to take part in the Eastern Illinois University Friday Night Special.
