BIG RAPIDS, Mich.—Despite competing without the services of senior All-American
Jackie Henderson Saturday morning, the No. 18 University of Southern Indiana women's cross country team finished just six points shy of advancing to the NCAA II National Championships as they placed fifth out of 23 teams at the NCAA II Midwest Region Championships.
USI, which was still the top GLVC team in the field despite the loss of Henderson, finished the race with 199 points, while Ashland University finished fourth with 193 points. Henderson was out of action Saturday with a foot injury.

Lauren Minor led the Screaming Eagles and was named to the NCAA II All-Midwest Region team as she finished 13th with a 6k time of 22 minutes, 31.50 seconds. Sophomore
Kaylee McClanahan was just five spots shy of earning All-Region accolades as she finished 30th in the 158-competitor field.
USI, which won the GLVC Championship for the third time in four years two weeks ago, sees its season come to a close with the fifth-place finish. It marks the first time since 2001 that the Eagles will not have a student-athlete compete in the women's race at the NCAA II National Championships.
