EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana men's and women's track and field teams landed four student-athletes on the inaugural U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) Outdoor Track & Field All-Midwest Region teams.
Junior
Dustin Emerick earned All-Region honors for both the men's 5,000 and 10,000 meters, while fellow classmate
Jackie Henderson earned All-Region honors for the women's 10,000 meters. Sophomores
Michael Callison and
Michael Jordan also earned All-Midwest Region honors in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase.
All-Region distinction for the 2011 outdoor season is awarded to the top five competitors from each region in each individual event as well as each member of a relay team ranked in the region's top three.
Emerick finished the season ranked first in the NCAA II Midwest Region in both the men's 5,000 and the 10,000 meters, while Henderson finished the year ranked second in the region in the women's 10,000 meters. Callison and Jordan were ranked fourth and fifth, respectively, in the Midwest Region in the men's steeplechase.
Callison, Emerick, and Henderson each earned bids into the NCAA II Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which are May 26-28 in Turlock, California. Jordan missed the cut in the steeplechase by just over two seconds.
