Emerick earns GLVC weekly honor

EVANSVILLE, Ind.—University of Southern Indiana junior Dustin Emerick was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week following his performance at the Washington University Invitational this past Friday.

Emerick finished first in the 5,000 meters with an NCAA II provisional qualifying time of 14 minutes, 31.91 seconds. His effort helped the Screaming Eagles to a 13th-place finish as a team.

A two-time GLVC Men's Track Athlete of the Week during the indoor season, Emerick currently ranks third in the nation and first in the GLVC in the 5,000 meters. He posted a time of 14 minutes, 11.55 seconds, in the event at the Stanford Invitational two weeks ago.

Emerick, who is a two-time All-American in cross country, is earning the GLVC Track Athlete of the Week honor for the sixth time in his career and the fourth time for outdoor track. He is a history major and a graduate of Elmwood High School.

The Eagles return to action April 14-15 when they compete at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, California, and the Rose-Hulman Twilight in Terre Haute, Indiana.
