ST. LOUIS—Juniors
Dustin Emerick and
Jackie Henderson each posted NCAA II provisional qualifying times in the 5,000 meters Friday evening to lead the University of Southern Indiana men's and women's track and field teams at the Washington University Invitational.
Emerick was first in the men's 5,000 meters with a time of 14 minutes, 31.91 seconds, while Henderson was second in the women's 5,000 meters with a time of 17 minutes, 6.26 seconds.
The Screaming Eagles had seven top-five finishes as the men's squad finished 13th with 28 points, while the women's squad was 12th with 22 points.
Junior
Russell Farris was fourth in the javelin and fifth in the decathlon to lead the men's squad, while freshman
Samuel Rice was fourth-place effort in the pole vault.
USI's women were aided by senior
Allison Laird's third-place finish in the 10,000 meters and junior
Lauren Seidl's fifth-place performance in the long jump.
The Eagles return to action April 14-15 when they compete in the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, California, and the Rose-Hulman Twilight in Terre Haute, Indiana.
