EVANSVILLE, Ind.—University of Southern Indiana men's cross country/track and field coach Mike Hillyard announced that incoming freshmen Andrew Beiriger (Columbus, Indiana), Will Hogston (Indianapolis, Indiana), and Trent Nolan (Evansville, Indiana) have signed national letters of intent to compete for the Screaming Eagles in 2011-12.

Nolan, the son of USI and GLVC Hall of Fame member Jim Nolan, is currently a senior at Reitz High School where he has earned varsity letters in cross country and track.

A first-team All-City, All-Conference, All-Sectional, and All-Region performer, Nolan led RHS to a third-place finish at the IHSAA Pike Central Region Championships and an appearance in the IHSAA Brown County Semi-State Championships in 2010.

Beiriger is currently a senior at Columbus North Nigh School where he has earned varsity letters in cross country and track. He helped lead CNHS to IHSAA state championships in cross country in 2009 and 2010 as well as a third-place finish at the 2010 Nike Cross Nationals this past December.

Individually, Beiriger was 50th at the 2010 IHSAA state championships and 122nd at the Nike Cross Nationals. He was 28th at the state meet in 2009.

Hogston is currently completing his senior year at Lawrence North High School where he has earned varsity letters in cross country and track.

This past fall, Hogston helped lead LNHS to a third-place finish at the IHSAA State Cross Country Championships by finishing 30th. He earned All-County and All-Sectional honors as well as All-Region and All-Semi-State accolades in the fall. Hogston also was an All-County selection on the track as a junior in 2010.

“We are fortunate to add Trent, Andrew, and Will to our group,” Hillyard said. “Trent will be our first 'second-generation' Screaming Eagle. He is a late bloomer, much like his dad was.

“Andrew was a frontrunner on one of the top three teams in the country and Will was a front runner on a team that finished third at the state meet,” Hillyard continued. “All three of these young men are hard-working, class individuals. They will be tremendous assets to our program.”
