BLOOMINGTON, Ind.—Sophomores
Michael Jordan and
Garrett Blackman each recorded first-place finishes to lead the University of Southern Indiana men's indoor track and field team at the Hoosier Invitational Saturday.
Jordan won the mile with a time of four minutes, 23.19 seconds, while Blackman won the 5,000 meters with a time of 15 minutes, 39.38 seconds.
As a team, the Screaming Eagles had 10 top-five finishes and 21 top-10 performances. Freshman
Samuel Rice was third in the pole vault, while freshmen
Clayton Willis and
Jacob McIntyre were third in the mile and 5,000 meters, respectively.
In addition to USI's second and fourth-place finishes in the 4x400-meter relay, the Eagles got top-five efforts from sophomores
Michael Callison and
Michael Whitehead. Callison was fourth in the 800 meters and teamed up with Whitehead on USI's 4x400-meter squad that finished second, while Whitehead added a fourth-place finish in the mile.
Freshman
Joey Coats rounded out the Eagles' top-five finishes with a fifth-place effort in the 5,000 meters.
USI returns to action February 11-12 when it competes at the Grand Valley State University Big Meet in Allendale, Michigan.
