BLOOMINGTON, Ind.—Junior distance runner
Dustin Emerick posted an NCAA II provisional qualifying time in the 5,000 meters Saturday to lead the University of Southern Indiana men's track and field team at the Indiana University Relays this weekend.
Emerick ran the 5,000 meters in 14 minutes, 28.66 seconds, good enough for fifth in the invitational race.
As a team, the Screaming Eagles' men had four top-five performances, while the women's squad added a pair of top-five finishers.
Junior distance runner
John Latta led the Eagles with a second-place finish in the 3,000 meters, while sophomore distance runner
Michael Callison was third in the mile. The Eagles also had a distance medley relay team cross the finish line in fifth place.
USI's women were led by junior
Jackie Henderson and freshman
Erika Wilson, who were fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 5,000-meter invitational.
The Eagles return to action February 5 when they compete in the Hoosier Invitational in Bloomington, Indiana.
