OWENSBORO, Ky.—The No. 15 University of Southern Indiana women's cross country team had five runners finish in the top seven and seven competitors place in the top 12 Saturday as it finished first out of eight teams with 25 points at the Fast Cats Classic in Owensboro, Kentucky.
Junior
Adrienne Curtis finished third out of 70 runners to pace the Screaming Eagles, who captured their first team title since winning the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship last year.
Curtis finished the 5k course in 18 minutes, 35.99 seconds, a little more than 14 seconds away from Belmont University's Nicole Muldowney, who finished first with a time of 18 minutes, 21.71 seconds.
Sophomore
Lauren Minor finished fourth with a time of 18 minutes, 44.56 seconds, while junior
Jackie Henderson was fifth with a time of 18 minutes, 45.73 seconds. Sophomore
Emily Haines and senior
Heather Beard finished sixth and seventh, respectively, to round out the Eagles' top five finishers.
The Eagles return to action November 6 when they compete at the GLVC Championships in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
