ROLLA, Mo.—Sophomore Andrew Dixon and freshman Michael Jordan each recorded first-place finishes this weekend to lead the University of Southern Indiana men's track and field team to a fifth-place finish at the GLVC Outdoor Championships.
Dixon won the 10,000 meters with a time of 31 minutes, 53.64 seconds, while Jordan was first in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with an NCAA II provisional qualifying time of nine minutes, 15.98 seconds.
Jordan also had a seventh-place effort in the 1,500 meters, while Dixon was eighth in the 5,000 meters.
As a team, the Screaming Eagles had five top-five performances and 16 top-eight efforts to finish with 64 points.
Sophomore Dustin Emerick, junior #C.J. Trotter#, and freshman Michael Callison all posted top-five finishes. Emerick was second in the 5,000 meters, while Trotter finished third in the high jump. Callison was fourth in the steeplechase.
The Eagles will compete once more prior to the NCAA II Outdoor Championships as they travel to Naperville, Illinois, for the Dr. Keeler Invitational May 13-14. The NCAA II Championships are May 27-29 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
