Purdue honors former Purdue throws coach and Hall of Fame Official Gene Edmonds for the 19th-consecutive year with the Gene Edmonds Invitational. The previous 18 years, the Boilermakers hosted Indiana State for the Gene Edmonds Cup, an event that featured a traveling trophy. The Boilermakers won all 18 meetings before the cup was retired after last year's meet. This year's Gene Edmonds Invitational replaces the annual event and features IUPUI on the men's side and Louisville for the men and women. The meet will be unscored.

Maine was well represented at the World XC Championship in Bydgoszcz (Myslecinek Park), POLAND this morning. In the Men's Jr 8k, Madison HS and current Purdue Boilermarker Matt McClintock shined with a 20th place finish to lead the US squad. Haley Goers was a seven time state medalist in track and field and cross country for Hoffman Heights High School. As a senior she finished 8th at the Illiniois State Cross Country Championships. Coy Blair finished 2nd in last years State D1 shot with a throw of 61-11.25. The State record outdoors is 71-0. Indoors this year he recently threw a PR of 67-03.25 (20m). That throw was just .25” off of the Ohio Indoor record. It is also the 2nd best throw in the nation at this time. He's dedicated and confident that he can throw 71-0 and has his sights set on 75-0. He improved 11' from his Sophomore to his Junior year and has already thrown 6' further than last year and as he says "it’s just a matter of hitting it."
