Fishers High School lost to Hamilton Southeastern in a dual meet last month. The Tigers tied for second place behind Hamilton SE in the Hamilton County Meet last week. (via Hamilton County Sports Daily)
The Hamilton Southeastern girls cross country team finished sixth at the state meet in 2011 in a very close battle between multiple teams. Fifty-three points separated third from tenth place last year. Coach Golden loses three of his top seven runners to graduation including the team's number three, four, and six runners.. This year's squad is led by sophomore Rachel Nitchwitz. As a freshman, Nitchwitz finished sixth in a time of 18:35.80 on the tough LaVern-Gibson course.
In 2011, Hamilton Southeastern finished runner-up at the Indiana State Cross Country Meet to Columbus North. This year the Royals return four of their top seven from a year ago including the Hoosier state's top returner Troy Reeder.
We took the 1600 and 3200 meter rankings from last spring, removed the seniors, and scored it as a meet. Here is what it looks like as an indicator of who is looking strong for cross country.
Zach Reitzug was in midsentence when teammate Zach Bray broke in for a hug. The two Hamilton Southeastern hurdlers shared a quick embrace. Their celebration was brief, more a sign of accomplishment and respect than a salutatory gesture. (via INDYSTAR.com )
