Welcome to the 1st Midwest Track and Field Championships hosted by Indy Genesis.  In the past, we offered a meet just at the state level.  This year we are expanding to include surrounding states to offer a similar event to teams that have come to our Midwest Cross Country Championships in October.

This meet is for homeschooled athletes and athletes from school systems that are not affiliated with a state association or do not have a Track and Field program.  Athletes can participate attached (to a team/club) or unattached.

It is for all school-age children. There will be two Elementary divisions:  lower elementary (2nd grade and under) and upper elementary (3rd - 5th).  5th graders can compete at the Middle School level but cannot do both Elementary and Middle School events.  Middle School includes 6th-8th grade.  High School includes 9th-12th grade.

Registration:  $15 per athlete

Location:
Clark Pleasant Middle School right off of Interstate 65 in Greenwood, IN.
The track is limited to 9 lanes.  Note: The school has let us know we can use the track as long as things do not change with COVID. Based on the popularity of the event, we may move in the future to a bigger facility.

Entries:

Entry into the meet or changes for athletes can be made until 5/10/2021 at 6 pm.  Please make sure you have seed times

Register early to help us out in determining some open questions.

Scratches:  After 5/10/2021 at 6:00 pm, scratches can be sent directly to our timer @ frontrunnertiming@gmail.com ... Make sure "Midwest Track and Field Championships" is in the subject line.  Scatches will be accepted until 3:00 pm on Friday, May 14th.  Final heat sheets will be produced on Friday.

Race Day Scratches:  Make sure when you get to the meet, you immediately find the timer and communicate any additional scratches.  Do not wait for the coaches meeting to do all scratches.  This may delay the start of the meet.

An athlete can be entered in up to 4 events, relays included. You can enter more than 1 relay team in an event.  Only the 'A' or Varsity team will have the ability to score.

Team Camps:

They can be spread out in the field just west and some north of the restroom/concessions building.  Keep at least 15 feet between team camps accounting for spread out with family members in the team camp.  A center walkway up the middle of the Team camp area should be kept open.

Competition Area/Warmups/Check-in:

Once the running events start, no warmups will be allowed on the track or the field within the track. If we use the field for check-ins, only then will athletes be allowed on the field. And we ask only coaches or a team representative be on the field.  Remind athletes and parents that interfering with any race is grounds for disqualification

Scoring:

If we have at least 7 teams at a level (HS/MS/U EL/L EL), we will score 10,8,6,5,4,3,2,1 for all events.   We will adjust the scoring based on standard scoring if less.  Only 2 individual athletes or 1 relay team can score in any event. You do not need to designate them upfront.

Awards:

Tentatively, we give a medal and ribbon to the first place finisher and ribbons to 2nd through 8th.  If the whole meet ends up being like a Tri or Dual, awards will be limited to scoring positions.  There will at least be a 1st place team trophy for MS and HS teams.  If we have good numbers, we may add a 2nd place plaque or trophy and may add a golden points individual award to the highest MS and HS girl/boy point score.

COVID:

This will be added as we get closer to the event.

Events/Schedule:
We will run all levels concurrently in the following order L EL girls, L EL boys, U EL girls, U EL boys, MS girls, MS boys, HS girls, and HS boys.  We may run some of the distance events combined or coed depending on the number of entrants.  There are 2 Long Jump pits and we will use them both to fit Elementary in at the same time as older athletes.
We will have an open 1600, after all the HS & MS 1600's are complete.
