It's that final 100 meters of any cross country race that could make or break it for an athlete. It all comes down to that final surge.
We're taking a look at the best 400m and 800m runners among the top returners for this cross country season. Many of the fastest 400m guys, don't have as good of cross country PR's but that is usually because they use cross country to stay in shape for track and keep up their endurance. Or they may come from a smaller school that needs more athletes to field a full cross country team. We see more of the top cross country guys racing the 800m distance or further during track season.
Keep in mind this data is pulled straight from our database and is based on the top returning cross country runners based on their times from last fall.
