In His Own Words: Colin Rinne

Hey this one is a little late, I had quite a bit of other stuff going on this week besides sectionals. Anyway, i’ll just jump into it. Sectionals this year was the first time Westfield boys have ever been able to sit back and relax. We have the number one, three, and four teams in the state in our sectionals, as well as perennial power Fishers and Noblesville too.Our sectional is loaded.

We took the first mile pretty easy, just ran a set pace and watched what developed. After that we kicked it into higher gears and started running people down. Craig Schildmeir from Hamilton Heights ended up next to Kyle Duvall and I. He kind of followed us through the race and ended up qualifying. That was pretty cool. I love to see Hamilton County guys doing well. Craig beat me by a couple spots, Kyle got fourth by a hair or two. There was a massive amount of guys from 15:55-1604 where I came in, Spots 4-16 (i was the unlucky 16th) were in that, then quite a gap because that's just how the sectionals work out. with individuals trying to qualify and certain teams taking their time.

Our team made it out so I wasn’t really that disappointed in the end result. I just know now what not to do for my race plan. Brebuf regional is tomorrow, I’m really looking forward to that. I typically do pretty well there. My pr came from there my freshman year in the open race (as our team did not advance) and I was a second off PRing last year and got a very respectable sixth place I think. Anyway, I’m looking to have some fun tomorrow as always, help out my team and all. the usualy goals of people in regionals.

Sidenote, what’s everyone favorite color? Hit me up on twitter @CRinne01. I ask everyone that question. I’ve been spurting it out on the line after the whistle-before the gun every race since Flashrock. Why run if you can’t have fun right?
