Scouting Report: Westfield Boys

If you look at the results of the 2011 Indiana State Cross Country meet you will see one member of the Westfield boys cross country team. If you look at the Carmel Semi-State results you will see two. Results can be deceiving. If you look at the times of the Shamrocks top five runners this season their is no reason they can't make the team results, and possibly finish in the top ten, or even top five.

Coach Greg Albert has possibly the second best 1-2 punch in the state behind a loaded Carmel team. Senior Kyle Duvall and junior  Colin Rinne both come in with 5K season bests of 15:44. Those times rank sixth and seventh in the Hoosier State for 2012. Duvall was the lone placer from last year's team finishing 46th and 11th at Semi-State. Rinne finished 16th at Semi-State. Seniors Daniel Day and Graham Martin both have season bests under 16:30. Junior Ethan Worthington rounds out the top five and gives the Shamrocks a 1-5 split of 1:01.90. Caleb Grimes and incoming freshman Sam Henthorn look to also make an impact on the varsity roster this season.

Coach Albert Says...

"We are excited about the season getting underway.  We've put in a good summer of work and are ready to compete. Regional and beyond are the keys for us this year and our goal is to have our best tournament showing ever."
