Eagles land nine on All-GLVC teams

EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana men's and women's track and field teams landed nine student-athletes on the All-Great Lakes Valley Conference teams in an announcement by the league office Monday. The 51 members of the men's and women's first teams and 38 members of the second teams include top performers from the GLVC Outdoor Championships that were held in Rolla, Missouri, May 7-8.

USI's men had four student-athletes earn All-GLVC honors, with senior #C.J. Trotter#, junior Dustin Emerick, and sophomore Michael Jordan earning first-team accolades. Junior John Latta was named to the second team.

Emerick captured the GLVC title in the 5,000 meters and was third in the 1,500 meters, while Jordan finished first in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Trotter, who also earned second-team All-GLVC honors in men's basketball this past winter, was second in the high jump at the league meet, while Latta finished in the second in the 10,000 meters.

The women's squad saw five student-athletes earn All-GLVC accolades, with senior Allison Laird and junior Jackie Henderson earning first-team honors. Junior Adrienne Curtis as well as freshmen Kaylee McClanahan and Emily Diedrich were named to the second team.

Laird won the GLVC championship in the 10,000 meters, while Henderson finished first in the 5,000 meters at the conference meet. Curtis finished second in the 10,000 meters, while McClanahan and Diedrich finished second in the steeplechase and shot put, respectively.

USI returns to action Thursday when it opens the NCAA II Outdoor Championships in Turlock, California. Emerick (5,000/10,000 meters) and Henderson (10,000 meters) will be joined in competition by sophomore Michael Callison, who will compete in the men's steeplechase.
