Several Indiana high school track and field athletes set personal records during IHSAA sectional competition the week of May 18.
Marquis Allen (Muncie Central) threw 53-6 in the shot put at IHSAA Sectional 12 on May 21, improving from his previous best of 47-4. The mark ranks #40 in Indiana and set a school record for Muncie Central. Allen placed third among 25 competitors.
Olivia Heath (Lafayette Central Catholic) cleared 5-2 in the high jump at IHSAA Sectional 15 on May 19, bettering her previous mark of 4-10 from May 2026. The freshman ranks #65 in the state and #6 among freshmen, winning the event over 14 competitors.
Laine Lyles (Culver Academies) ran 12.53 in the 100 meters at IHSAA Sectional 6 on May 19, dropping from her previous best of 13.21. The freshman's time ranks #86 statewide and #11 among freshmen while setting a school record. Lyles finished third in a field of 23.
Lee Lahai (Plainfield) threw 161-1 in the discus at IHSAA Sectional 18 on May 21, improving from 144-2.5 set in May 2026. The senior ranks #34 in Indiana and placed fifth among 18 competitors.
Lenny Underwood (Fort Wayne Northrop) ran 49.31 in the 400 meters at IHSAA Sectional 9 on May 21, lowering his previous time of 51.58. The mark places him #25 in the state, and he finished second in a field of 19.
Carmen Rettig (Lakeland) ran 15.98 in the 100m hurdles at IHSAA Sectional 8 on May 19, improving from 16.64 set in May 2026. The sophomore ranks #97 statewide and #18 among sophomores while setting a school record and winning among 19 competitors.
Maddie Rummel (Indian Creek) clocked 14.76 in the 100m hurdles at IHSAA Sectional 20 on May 19, bettering her previous mark of 15.27 from April 2026. The junior ranks #14 in Indiana and #2 among juniors, setting a school record and winning among 11 competitors. Rummel also set a personal record in the 300m hurdles, running 45.87 to improve from 46.06.
