BLOOMINGTON, Ind.—Freshman distance runner
Kaylee McClanahan had a fifth-place finish in the mile Friday night to pace the University of Southern Indiana women's track and field team in its 2011 indoor season-opener at the Gladstein Invitational.
McClanahan, who was one of six top-10 finishers for the Screaming Eagles Friday, crossed the finish line in five minutes, 17.92 seconds. Senior distance runner
Allison Laird added a sixth-place finish in the 5,000 meters with a time of 18 minutes, 51.27 seconds.

Jackie Henderson and sophomore distance runner
Brittany Karges each had eighth-place showings in the 3,000 meters and 5,000 meters, respectively. Sophomore distance runner
Ladi Stallard and freshman middle distance runner
Jordan Mornout had ninth-place finishes in the 5,000 meters and the mile, respectively, to round out the Eagles' top performers.
USI returns to action January 28-29 when it competes at the Indiana University Relays in Bloomington.
