LOUISVILLE, Ky.—The No. 17 University of Southern Indiana women's cross country team finished seventh out of 22 teams Saturday at the NCAA II Midwest Region Championships at the E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park. The Screaming Eagles finished with 174 points, 36 behind the third-place Hillsdale College and the final team qualifying spot for the NCAA II National Championships.

Despite the tough outing, junior Jackie Henderson secured a spot as an individual at the national meet. Henderson, who earned All-Region honors with her performance, finished sixth in the 150-competitor field with a 6k time of 21 minutes, 34.08 seconds, less than 30 ticks off the winning pace set by Ferris State University's Christina Muir.

The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference dominated the meet, with the top five teams coming from the northern-most conference in the region. Top-ranked Grand Valley State University, Ferris State, and Hillsdale finished one, two, and three, respectively, to punch their tickets to the NCAA II National Championships. Bellarmine University (sixth) and USI were the top two Great Lakes Valley Conference teams in the field.

The NCAA II National Championships are December 4 and are part of the NCAA Division II Fall Sports Festival in Louisville, Kentucky.
