INDIANAPOLIS - IUPUI Head Men's Cross Country Coach Chuck Koeppen has announced that seniors Joe Hoffman, Chase Kaufman and Aaron Kremer will serve as team captains for the upcoming 2010 season. The trio helped the Jaguars to a fourth-place Summit League finish in Koeppen's initial campaign.

Hoffman is coming off a banner 2009 in which he earned First Team All-Summit League honors in the fall and a the IUPUI Michael A. Carroll Scholarship in the spring. In addition, he was chosen Team MVP during his junior season and earned the team's Most Improved Runner for the second consecutive season. Academically, he was selected to IUPUI's Top 100 students and earned his third straight Academic All-Summit League award. The PE & Health Education major holds a 3.8 grade point average and hasn't missed a meet in his three-year career.

Kaufman made an immediate impact on the Jaguars' lineup after transferring from Purdue, taking second at last year's IPFW Invitational in the second meet of the season. With Kaufman leading the way, the Jaguars won their first meet title since the 2004 campaign. He ran among the Jaguars top two runners in the first three meets before being sidelined with an injury. He came back in time for The Summit League Championships where he was IUPUI's No. 6 runner. The senior Motor Sports Engineering major has a 3.4 GPA and was tabbed Academic All-Summit League a year ago.

Kremer was a First Team All-Summit League performer his rookie year and was the team's Co-Most Valuable Runner as a sophomore. He owns the second fastest 8K in school history, running a 25:11.99 at the UE Invitational in 2008. As a junior, Kremer ran among IUPUI's top three in six of seven meets and led the Jags to the tape twice. Like Hoffman, he's been on the IUPUI Academic Advisor's List all six semesters of his running career and is a three-time Academic All-Summit League pick. The Mathematics major has a 3.7 GPA entering his final season.

The IUPUI men's cross country season is slated to begin on Sept. 4 when the Jags run the Dayton Flyer 5K Challenge in Kettering, Ohio. Koeppen's squad returns five of its seven-man lineup from last year's Summit League Meet and has added a quartet of in-state preps during the recruiting period.
