Nine Eagles honored on All-GLVC squads

EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana men's and women's outdoor track and field teams landed nine competitors on the All-GLVC teams as announced by the league office Wednesday.

Senior All-American Mary Ballinger, junior Sarah Whiteman, and sophomore Jackie Henderson all earned first-team honors to lead the women's contingent. Senior Christy Dixon and junior Holly Bartelt earned second-team accolades.

Ballinger finished first in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and fourth in the 1,500 meters at the GLVC Outdoor Championships, while Henderson captured the conference title in the 3,000 meters.

Whiteman finished second in both the 3,000 meters and the steeplechase, while Christy Dixon posted a third-place finish in the steeplechase and a fifth-place finish in the 1,500 meters at the league meet. Bartelt finished fourth in the 5,000 meters to garner her All-GLVC accolade.

USI's men landed four competitors on the All-Conference squads, two on the first team and two on the second team.

Sophomore Andrew Dixon and freshman Michael Jordan were selected to the first team, while sophomore Dustin Emerick and junior #C.J. Trotter# earned second-team honors.

Andrew Dixon won the 10,000 meters at the conference meet and was eighth in the 5,000 meters, while Jordan was first in the steeplechase and seventh in the 1,500 meters. Emerick was second in the 5,000 meters, while Trotter finished third in the high jump and helped USI's 4x100-meter relay team to a sixth-place finish.

Ballinger, Emerick, Henderson, and Jordan all are slated to compete at the NCAA II Outdoor Championships May 27-29 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
