ROLLA, Mo.—Senior All-American Mary Ballinger and sophomore Jackie Henderson each recorded first-place finishes this weekend to lead the University of Southern Indiana women's track and field team to a sixth-place finish at the GLVC Outdoor Championships.

USI had 12 top-five finishes and 15 top-eight performances as it ended the meet with 81 points.

Ballinger led a contingent of Screaming Eagles in the 3,000-meter steeplechase as she finished first with a time of 10 minutes, 56.31 seconds. USI finished one-two-three in the steeplechase as junior Sarah Whiteman and senior Christy Dixon finished second and third, respectively. Whiteman's time of 11 minutes, 17.59 seconds is an NCAA II provisional mark.

In addition to the steeplechase, Ballinger was fourth in the 1,500 meters and 14th in the 400-meter hurdles.

Henderson won the 3,000 meters with a time of 10 minutes, 3.09 seconds, marking the first-time in her career that the All-GLVC cross country and indoor track performer has won a GLVC title. She also helped USI's 4x400-meter relay team to a fifth-place finish.

The Eagles will compete once more prior to the NCAA II Outdoor Championships as they travel to Naperville, Illinois, for the Dr. Keeler Invitational May 13-14. The NCAA II Championships are May 27-29 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
