Eagles announce three signings

EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana women's cross country/track and field team announced that freshmen Jordan Mornout (Ft. Wayne, Indiana), Kaylee McClanahan (Huntertown, Indiana), and Erika Wilson (Pekin, Indiana) have signed national letters of intent to compete for Head Coach Mike Hillyard's Screaming Eagles in 2010-11.

Mornout is currently a senior at Carroll High School in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, where she has earned varsity letters in cross country and track.

A member of three conference, sectional, and regional championship squads on the cross country course, Mornout helped lead CHS to a pair of sectional championships and three top-10 finishes at the IHSAA State meet.

Mornout earned a pair of All-Conference awards on the cross country course and won the conference championship in the 400 meters as a freshman in 2007. On the track, Mornout has been a member of five conference championship relay teams as well as two regional championship relay squads. She earned All-State honors as a sophomore and a junior for her efforts in CHS's 4x800 relay team's top eight finishes.

A high school teammate of Mornout at CHS, McClanahan earned All-State honors this past fall after finishing 21st at the IHSAA State Championship meet. McClanahan also earned a pair of All-Conference honors in cross country and was second at the 2009 semi-state meet.

On the track, Mclanahan earned All-State honors as a sophomore in 2008 after helping CHS's 4x800-meter relay team to a seventh-place finish at the state meet. She won a conference and sectional title in the 3,200 meters and was the regional runner up in the same event in 2008.

McClanahan recently set a meet record in the 3,200 meters with her time of 11 minutes, 09.90 seconds at the Lime City Relays (Huntington North High School). The time currently ranks her as the top senior in Indiana and third overall.

Wilson is currently a senior at Eastern High School in Pekin, Indiana, where she has earned varsity letters in cross country and track.

A four-time All-Conference performer on the cross country course and the track, Wilson was a state qualifier as a junior in track last spring and was a state qualifier on the cross country course as a senior this past fall—she finished 37th at the 2009 IHSAA State Championship Meet.

Wilson's time of 11 minutes, 17.31 seconds in the 3,200 meters ranks fifth among Indiana seniors and 10th overall.

“Jordan, Kaylee, and Erika all have the capacity to compete well on the national stage,” Hillyard said. Our seven graduating seniors this spring have all competed in a national championship during their time at USI, and five of them have earned All-America honors. That being said, all three of these student-athletes should make an immediate impact.”
