Men's cross country/track announces signings

EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Southern Indiana men's cross country/track and field team announced that freshmen Jacob McIntyre (Walton, Kentucky), Seth O'Laughlin (Columbia, Missouri), and Clayton Willis (Henderson, Kentucky) have signed national letters of intent to compete for Head Coach Mike Hillyard's Screaming Eagles in 2010-11.

McIntyre is currently a senior at Walton-Verona High School in Walton, Kentucky, where he has earned varsity letters in baseball, basketball, cross country, track.

A two-time first-team All-State performer on the cross country course, McIntyre finished 20th at the KHSAA Class 1A State Championship Meet as a senior in 2009 and was fourth at the 2008 KHSAA Class 1A State Championship Meet.

O'Laughlin is currently a senior at Hickman High School in Columbia, Missouri, where he has earned varsity letters in cross country and track.

A member of a district and sectional championship squad, O'Laughlin helped lead HHS to a fifth-place finish at the MHSAA Class 4 State Championship Meet as a sophomore in 2007. This past fall, O'Laughlin finished 28th at the MHSAA Class 4 State Championship Meet.

Willis is a senior at Memorial High School (Evansville) where he has earned varsity letters in cross country and track.

A member a city, conference, and regional championship team at MHS, Willis capture the city championship in cross country this past fall and helped guide his team to a seventh-place finish at the semi-state championship meet. He also captured a city championship in track as a junior in 2009.

“Jacob, Seth, and Clay are all late bloomers,” Hillyard said. “I expect all three to emerge as leaders on our team after one or two years in our program.”
