EVANSVILLE, Ind.—University of Southern Indiana freshman Michael Jordan was named the GLVC Male Track Athlete of the Week for his efforts at the Hillsdale “Gina” Relays last Friday night.
Jordan posted a solid NCAA II provisional qualifying time in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in just his second attempt in the event. His time of nine minutes, 12.96 seconds was good enough for seventh in the 48-competitor field and ranks him first in the GLVC, 16th nationally.
This marks the first time this season that Jordan, a science and teaching major, has earned GLVC Track Athlete of the Week honors and the second time that a USI male student-athlete has garnered the award. Sophomore Dustin Emerick earned the same honor a week ago.
The Screaming Eagles return to action May 7-8 when they compete at the GLVC Outdoor Championships in Rolla, Missouri.
