Both the University of Evansville men’s and women’s cross country teams have been honored for their work in the classroom, as both teams have garnered All-Academic Team honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The UE women’s team earned All-Academic Team honors for the 10th consecutive year under the direction of head coach
Don Walters this year by posting a team cumulative grade-point average of 3.50. The UE men’s team also earned All-Academic Team honors for the fifth-straight year and sixth time overall under Walters by posting a 3.36 cumulative team GPA in the classroom at UE.
“I am once again extremely proud of both teams for all of the hard work that they put in this year both in the classroom and on the cross country course,” said Walters. “Succeeding both on the course and in the classroom is what UE cross country is all about, and once again, our student-athletes have really taken that to heart and have been able to accomplish a lot in both areas this year. I could not be more proud of them for that.”
Overall, a record total of 176 Division I women’s programs and 135 men’s programs received USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors this year. For a team to be considered, they must have competed in the NCAA Regional Championships and compiled a minimum 3.00 team cumulative GPA in the classroom.
