Eagles rack up six top-10 finishes at EIU

CHARLESTON, Ill.—The University of Southern Indiana women's track and field team recorded six top-10 finishes at the Eastern Illinois University Friday Night Special.

Senior Mary Ballinger, junior Sarah Whiteman, and sophomore Adrienne Curtis led the Screaming Eagles. Ballinger was fifth in the 800 meters with a time of two minutes, 20.06 seconds, while Whiteman was fifth in the mile with a time of five minutes, 15.64 seconds. Curtis was fifth in the 3,000 meters with a time of 10 minutes, 35.39 seconds.

Rounding out the Eagles' top-10 finishers was junior Allison Laird, freshman Rebekah Hoffman, and freshman Brittany Karges. Laird and Karges finished eighth and 10th, respectively, in the 3,000 meters, while Hoffman was ninth in the 600 meters.

The Eagles return to action February 26-27 when they travel to Kenosha, Wisconsin, to compete in the GLVC Indoor Championships. The NCAA II Indoor Championships are March 12-13 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
