Whiteman, Karges lead Eagles at DePauw

GREENCASTLES, Ind.—Junior Sarah Whiteman and freshman Brittany Karges each recorded second-place finishes Saturday to lead the University of Southern Indiana women's track and field team at the DePauw University Tiger Indoor Invitational.

Whiteman finished second in the mile with a time of five minutes, 30.58 seconds, while Karges was second in the 3,000 meters with a time of 11 minutes, 27.10 seconds. Karges also placed sixth in the mile, while Whiteman was 10th in the 800 meters.

As a team, the Screaming Eagles finished sixth out of six teams with 33 points and had eight top-10 finishes despite having just five competitors.

USI returns to action next Friday and Saturday when it competes at the Grand Valley State University Big Meet in Allendale, Michigan.
