BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The IUPUI women's cross country team got a stellar individual effort from junior Brittney McDuffee as the 2009 season came to a close with the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Meet at the Indiana University Championship Course on Saturday afternoon. McDuffee, a Second Team All-Summit Leaguer performer this season, wheeled to a time of 22:24.85 6K time, placing 57th among 218 competitors.

Her time was the third quickest in school history, nearly 26 seconds shy of the school record she set late last season. It was her best 6K time of the season, topping her previous mark by almost 27 ticks.

Rising freshman Rachel Zajac finished on a strong note, covering the course in a time of 23:47.70, placing 142nd. Running just her second career 6K, the Lake Central-product cleared her previous best time by 34 seconds.

Sophomore Ana Paez came in at 23:52.38 to finish 146th and senior Jennie Jamicich capped her career with a time of 24:18.40. Jamicich got off to a slow start, missing the team's first meet of the season due to lingering effects to a previous injury. Saturday marked the senior's best team finish of the season as she placed fourth in the Jaguars' lineup.

Junior Michelle Williams capped IUPUI's team scoring, running a time of 24:46.30 to place 186th. Freshmen Rebecca Downs and Kaci Verkamp came in shortly thereafter, finishing at 24:50.21 and 25:01.69, respectively.

Michigan State's Emily MacLeod took the individual tape, leading three runners that broke the 21 minute mark. MacLeod finished at 20:42.70 and Michigan's Kaitlyn Peale was second, covering the course in a time of 20:51.92. Notre Dame's Lindsey Ferguson was third at 20:58.62.

Notre Dame won the Great Lakes Regional title with a score of 94 among a tightly bunched leaderboard at the top. Ohio State was second at 102 and Michigan was third at 104. Host Indiana finished at 105.
