10/30/2009 2:11:42 PM

CEDAR CITY, Utah - The IUPUI men's and women's cross country teams will head to Cedar City, Utah to take part in this weekend's Summit League Championships at Cedar Ridge Golf Course. The men's 8K race is scheduled to begin at noon ET, followed by the women's 6K race at 1:00 p.m. ET.

First-year Head Coach Chuck Koeppen's men's team will rely on its strong front pack to make a push for the program's first title. Three different Jaguars have led the team to the finish line at least once this season while both Chase Kaufman and Aaron Kremer were IUPUI's top runner twice this season.

Junior Joe Hoffman owns IUPUI's fastest 8K of the season with a 25:36 time at the Notre Dame Invitational on Oct. 2. Kaufman ran a 25:42.70 at the IPFW Invitational but has recently been slowed by an injury, but is expected to be at 100 percent this weekend.

Kremer was the Jaguars' top runner at the ISU Pre-Nationals Meet on Oct. 17, running a 26:10.4.

The Jaguars' lone senior, Evan Fruits, has been among the team's top five in all five meets including a season-best 25:51 8K at Notre Dame. Freshman #J.D. Smith# is coming off his best collegiate meet as he was the Jaguars' No. 2 runner at ISU, crossing just over eight seconds behind Kremer.

IUPUI's best finish at the league meet was in 2004 when the Jags placed second of nine schools. The Jaguars were sixth last season.
