2020 IHSAA Regional Previews: 9-12

Regional 9 - Ben Davis
Zionsville and Brownsburg own two of the state's proudest cross country programs, and they will meet this weekend at the Ben Davis Regional. The Bulldogs and Eagles each won sectional championships in both boys and girls last week, and should have two tight races for the regional championships. Zionsville has won five straight girls regional championships, while Brownsburg is trying to become back-to-back boys regional champions.

Ben Davis brings the third best boys team to this regional after finishing just a few points behind Zionsville last week. Avon, Southport and Perry Meridian will race for fourth, fifth and sixth.

This regional should offer an intriguing individual boys race as well. Brownsburg's Trevor Nolan, Zionsville's Jesus Garcia and Ritter's Paul Stamm have all run under 15:35 this season.

Expect Avon to finish third in the girls race, with Plainfield, Cardinal Ritter and Southport fighting for the last two transfer spots.

Look for a tight individual girls race in this one too. Brownsburg's Abigail Lynch and Ritter's Jenna Gruber both have a best time of 18:37 this season. In last week's sectional, Zionsville's Kiersten Hill bested Gruber by just 0.2 seconds.

The Ben Davis Regional begins at 10:30 AM Eastern Time.
