Regional 5 - Elkhart
Regional #5 is hosted by Elkhart, and should feature a tight race for the boys regional championship. Goshen dominated their sectional last week, while Northridge upset Goshen in the Elkhart sectional. Look forward to an intriguing race between those three schools for the regional title.
Northwood, South Bend Riley, Elkhart, Concord and South Bend Adams are all capable of advancing out of this regional, but will have to fight for the last two spots in next week's semi-state.
Mariano Retzloff became a sectional champion last week, and is the favorite to win this regional with a best time of 15:37 this season.
With five runners capable of running under 20:00, Penn comes in as the clear favorite in the girls race. Northridge brings the second best team, but would need a miracle to become back-to-back regional champions. Expect Elkhart to take the third spot, while Mishawaka and South Bend St Joseph should also advance.
