On Sunday afternoon, Liam Kelly and Reece Kelly of Westfield High School passed away following a tragic plane crash in Kokomo, Indiana. As reported by the Kokomo Tribune, the boys were two of three individuals who died in the crash; the third has been identified as Jerral Long, 63, who was the flight instructor. A fourth individual was on the plane, but survived and was reported to be alert and conscious when first responders arrived at the scene.

According to a statement released on Monday morning, the four were volunteering at "Glendale Days" an annual event that takes place at the Glendale Airport and is closed to the public. The crash is currently being investigated.

Liam Kelly was a senior at Westfield High School and has been a member of the cross country and track program for the past four years. Reece Kelley was a sophomore at Westfield, as well. Both boys had started their 2020 cross country season at the Valley Kickoff in Terre Haute. Liam held a 5K PR of 19:44.50 while Reece held a PR of 21:25.70.

Our condolences go out to the Kelly Family and the entire Westfield community during this extremely difficult time. We will update this story if any further details are released.
