Senior Spotlight: Hunter Hendershot

At the start of the 2019-20 track and field campaign, all eyes in the state of Illinois in terms of the boys' throws were squarely on Hunter Hendershot of Mahomet-Seymour. He has been on the radar since his winning the 2A shot put title as a sophomore for the Bulldogs.

Hendershot was poised to become a three-time winner this spring before COVID-19 shut things down. Moreover, he had his sights set to become a prominent figure on the national scene in the SP- undefeated through last year's stateside season and placing 7th at New Balance  Nationals Outdoor. Getting noticed would not have been hard for the state's top returner and 11th best performer in the country. Hendershot tossed a personal best 62'1.25"- among the lot were four competitions over 60-feet.

Perhaps, Hendershot's could be a dual-threat with the discus throw added in. He was the defending state champion and second-best returner in the state with a personal best 182-4.

Armed with nearly 200 athletic scholarship offers, Hendershot will stay very close to home and attend the University of Illinois-Champaign. We wish Hendershot the very best of luck in his future endeavors.
