Top Returners and Current PR

Jason Swarens, Sr. Terre Haute South Vigo High School 175' 7"

Christian Rios, Jr. Highland High School 158' 4"

Wyatt Puff, Sr. Fishers High School 180' 7"

Ke Perkins-Sullivan, Jr. Warren Central High School 165' 0"

Hayden Tobias, Fishers Sr. High School 169' 6"

With Ethan Alyea, having finished in the top two in the event each of the last two years, out of the way the discus is as wide open an event as any have been in quite some time. There are a couple of familiar faces on the list of the top returners for the boys' discus. As three of the boys' on this list are also considered to be favorites to take home the state championship in shot put as well.

Swarens had the best performance of any of the top five returners at State last year coming home in sixth. While this performance was good, he fell short of his personal PR by 14' meaning there was a little something left on the table that could be gained this year. It could be just enough for Swarens to bring home state championships in two events this year.

Puff has the highest PR of any of the favorites with a throw of just over 180'. Working with his teammate and fellow state championship hopeful Tobias may be just what the doctor ordered to put one of the two Fishers Tigers in the history books as state champion.

Ke Perkins-Sullivan Warren Central is only a junior, and with another off-season of work will likely be the odds on favorite to take this event as a senior, but don't overlook him as a possible dark horse contender this year. Last season as a sophomore he finished just outside of the top 10 in eleventh and will likely be right there if any of the favorites are just off of their game by a step.
