Flashback: Caleb Brown Takes 2nd In Terre Haute, Off To NXN

(Caleb Brown is all smiles during his last few strides at NXRMW, realizing he's positioned himself to compete against the country's best at NXN on December 7th in Portland)

Caleb Brown entered the Nike Cross Nationals Midwest Regional with high expectations placed upon him. He had cruised through the Ohio in-state season undefeated in seven outings with three of those winning marks eclipsing the 15 minute barrier.

Among the collection of victories was his first cross country state championship, which complements indoor and outdoor state titles achieved during his junior track seasons, as well as a national triumph earned at New Balance Nationals in last summer's Championship 2 Mile.

Rankings-wise, Brown led the Buckeye state throughout the duration of his senior campaign. Currently he resides at No. 1 in Ohio and No. 23 nation-wide in the 5k standings due to his personal best mark of 14:51.20, which was set at OHSAA District Galion. Subjectively-speaking, our national content editors have taken notice, as well, through his No. 13 listing on the prestigious MileSplit50 breakdown.

When Brown finally made it to the LaVern Gibson Course last weekend in Terre Haute, he more than delivered on those aforementioned high expectations by pocketing a 2nd place finish behind only Illinois all-time stand-out, Josh Methner. His 15:02.50 runner-up effort comfortably provided him the right to extend his season into Nike Cross Nationals

Another few weeks of training and preparation awaits for Brown before he makes his way to Oregon's Glendoveer XC Course for the end-of-season showcase.
