The Rundown:
The weekend will get off to this years customary start with the boys getting the action started first. Here we should see Reece Gibson leading the way with his teammates Wilson Whicker and Drake Kopf not far behind. Matt Mitsch of Yorktown should also be in that top 5 group after taking 2nd on Wednesday at the PH Arabian Round-Up. Pike will look to make their season debut with Oladapo and Chimbanda leading the Red Devils, towards the front of the race as well. The Wildcats of Lawrence North could also look to put on a nice showing, having a solid group that will likely finish within about a minute or so of each other and within the top 30 overall. Gibson will likely run away with the win, racing solo for the most part and leading his team to a big win early in the season.
The girls race looks to be a lot closer on both the individual and team side of things than the guys. Both Norwell and Pike have strong squads coming into this meet. Sydney Lambert will likely lead things off with Jessica Velez, Sarah Mahnensmith and Ellie Cates not far from her. Pike's 1-5 are a strong and close group when it comes to their finishes, their 6 and 7 girls will likely be what helps decide who takes 2nd and 3rd as a team. The battle there is going to be very close between Norwell and Concordia as both are strong squads who will be fitting for every spot down the finish stretch, and will likely come down to how well their No. 5 runner can perform.
