Just like the boys team, the lady hounds are a team that can never be counted out of the group that will make the podium at the state meet. Last season Phoebe Bates looked to be the 2nd best or even the best girl in the state, depending on the week. Unfortunately she took a fall at the state meet causing her to finish 49th, and nearly 2 minutes slower than she ran all season. She bounced back in the track season and took 5th in the 1600 at state. But as always Carmel is a very deep team and will begin looking now for who will fill those top 7 spots to toe the line for the state meet. 6 of their 7 from last year are back this year, and with improvement should be just as good, if not better than last year's squad.
