Emma Wilson Makes 16 Laps Look Easy

Wilson made easy work of the 3200 at last year's HSR, lapping nearly the entire field

Fun fact, the lowest place Emma Wilson has finished during this school year is 14th. And that was at Nike Cross Nationals, against some of the best distance runners in the country. Other than that, 14th place finish, she has had only one other race that was not 1st, Nike Regionals, she lost to top Illinois runner, Katelynne Hart. So far, on the track though, she is making major strides.

Currently, Wilson holds the US #1 in the 1600 with a time of 4:50.81. Last season, in the mile, she ran a 5:05.13 indoors. On top of that, she ran her first indoor 3200 this past Wednesday at the Bloomington South Invite, finishing 1st in a blazing time of 10:29.82. Topping 2nd by nearly 45 seconds. Her time propelled her to a current US #3 time, just about a second from being US #1. Last season the best 3200 she had run was a 10:41.86, at the Bloomington North Regional.

Her 3200 time also moves her to #9 All-Time in Indiana history, the record is currently held by Anna Rohrer with a time of 9:56.48, who currently competes for Notre Dame and was a 3x state champ in the 3200.

If Wilson can get into a race or two that features some bigger competition for her, she has a real shot at dropping her times even lower, but it looks like the first chance she'll have against major competition will be the Flashes Showcase in April.

She is the 1600 and 3200 defending state champ and seems to be on a big mission to improve on both of those performances and repeat as champion.
